CERN ROOT
ROOT was originally developed by RĂ©ne Brun at CERN to succeed the analysis framework PAW. In contrast to PAW, which was developed in Fortran, ROOT is written in C++ and allows to use of object-oriented programming for analyzing huge data as expected from the LHC. Although it was originally designed solely for use in the particle physics community, many other branches of science make use of it these days. This course is meant to be a full introduction to all important features of ROOT, starting from simple histograms and heading towards the complex data structure of ROOT files.- Installation - Installing ROOT locally on your computer
- First Histogram - Drawing first histogram and filling it
- First Graph - Drawing first graph
- Random Values - Creating random values from different distributions
- Reading & Writing Data - Writing out ASCII data to disk and reading data for analysis
- Fonts & Styles - Changing fonts, labels, and styles of histograms and graphs
- Fitting - Fitting functions to data
